Day 2 -Meal ( /L/ )

After a restful night’s sleep, you can expect a personal pick up from our experienced guide.

Today’s adventures kick off with an exploration of the bustling city of Yangon. Our first stop will be the legendary Shwedagon Pagoda and its golden stupa that has been at the heart of Myanmar for over 2500 years.

After some time here we will continue on to the Chaut Htat Kyi, also known as the reclining Buddha. At over 66 meters (217 feet) long and feet carved with 108 traditional symbols, the reclining Buddha is one of Myanmar’s largest and most impressive.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant offering us the opportunity to indulge in cuisines such as Burma Kachin, Shan and Kayah.

After lunch we will head to the Bogyoke Aung San Market for the perfect spot of shopping Burmese handicrafts. From here we can continue on to enjoy the beautiful colonial style buildings of downtown and the City Hall.

We will spend the afternoon stretching our legs at the Sule Pagoda before a stroll around Mahabandoola Park followed by a well earnt coffee break and the Strand Hotel.

As the sun starts to set on our first day, we will head to Botahtaung Pagoda and Jetty where we can enjoy breath-taking views over Yangon’s river and surrounding regions.

Our experienced guide will ensure your safe return for overnight at your comfortable Yangon hotel.

Note: Bogoyoke Aung San Market is closed on every Monday.

Day 3 - Meal (B/ / )

Yangon

This morning, prepare to gather at the Central Railway Station for a beautifully intimate tour of Yangon’s past and present.

Get ready to board a traditional, bustling Burmese train where you will enjoy the unique experience of feeling truly immersed in day to day local life. Purchase anything from snacks to SIM cards from the train vendors.

Sit back and relax on this 1-hour journey from the city of Yangon to Hledan. Hledan has the reputation amongst locals as the hub for young people looking to learn languages, pick up computer skills and those even on the lookout for love. Amble through the wonderful local market here, the perfect opportunity to shop for fresh fruit and native flowers before enjoying an afternoon tea.

Whilst sipping on a freshly brewed cup of tea we will learn more about Myanmar’s long-standing tea culture.

After a rest and tea stop, we will head on to the world-famous Rangoon University, having only reopened its doors to tourists a few years ago, immerse yourself in the stories of its chequered past as told by our experienced guide.

Take a moment to breathe in the fresh air, rest and take some photos at the idyllic Inva Lake.

Lunch will be traditional meal served at a restaurant tucked away from the bustle of the city. Savour each course as you dine on mouth-watering appetizers, soups, local vegetables, endless main dishes and seasonal fruits.

This afternoon we will experience Burmese buses with a 1-hour scenic drive back to the heart of Yangon. Once known as ‘the world’s second London’, Yangon claims the most British colonial-era building in South East Asia. Enjoy a walking tour and learn of the impact the British rule had on Myanmar. The walking tour concludes at Sule Square where you can continue your explorations, or stroll back to your comfortable Yangon hotel.

Day 4 - Meal (B/ / )

Yangon to Myitkyina

Enjoy exploring all this colorful city has to offer with a free day to enjoy at your leisure.

Prepare to board a scenic overnight bus into the Kachin State and onto Myitkyina.

 

Day 5 - Meal ( / / )

Prepare to arrive in Myitkyina early evening with a personalized pick up by our experienced driver who will ensure your safe arrival to you Myitkyina hotel.

Day 6 - Meal (B/L/D)

Inzaghi

  • Myitkyina to Inndawgyi lake-5 hours

This morning, prepare to be picked up by our experienced guide at your hotel.We will start the day with a comfortable 5-hour drive on our way to the beautiful Indawgyi Lake.Lunch will be served on route to our destination at Mogaung. Overnight at Lonton on the western bank of the lake.

Day 7 - Meal (B/L/ )

Shwe Taung Trek

  • Trekking distance – 5.4 KM

Enjoy breakfast a prepare for an adventurous day of trekking. We will leave at 8 am, by boat to the Northern peak of Indawgyi Lake. After an hour of relaxing on board, we will arrive at our trek start point, Shwe Taung. Here we will stretch our legs with a trek to the top of Shwe Taung where we will visit a beautiful monastery and pagoda. Here we can take a rest, enjoy the view and prepare to start trekking through the surrounding forest.

On our way to Ton San Kha village we will look out for Eastern Hoolock Gibbons and various forest bird that are common in this area. After an exciting 2-hour trek, we will reach Ton San Kha, a small, organic farmer village to take rest and enjoy lunch.

Lunch will be served by a local ecotourism group. Exclusively cooked with only local, organically grown ingredients, it promises to be truly delicious.

After refueling with our local lunch, we will trek back to the boat along the wetlands of Indaw Chaung.

Rest your legs on the boat ride back and enjoy an unforgettable stop at the incredible Shwe Myitzu Pagoda before returning to Lonton at about 4 pm.

Overnight in Lonton.

Day 8 - Meal (B/ / )

Kayaking

  • Kayaking approximate distance - 17KM (Hepu)

Today’s exciting kayak trip kicks off from the small jetty in Lonton. The route follows the shore giving us the opportunity to discover local fishermen and villages until we reach Hepu. Stop for an extended break here to enjoy the views of the wetlands and take in the nature and many birds in beautiful region.

There are no restaurants in the villages here, but small noodle and tea shops can easily be found.

This afternoon we will spend a couple of hours crossing Indawgyi Lake before heading back into Lonton. Around 3 pm today we will have the opportunity to see the local shrimp fisher at work.

As today adventure comes to an end, relax with a stunning sunset view from the lake before dropping the kayaks back and heading back for an overnight stay at your Lonton hotel.

Day 9 - Meal (B/L/ )

Biking

  • Biking approximate distance – 40 KM

What better way to see this region than by bicycle? Today we will cycle along the beautiful western bank of Indawgyi Lake before stopping at the Shwe Myitzu Pagoda. Here we can enjoy a short boat ride onto the shore of the pagoda. Depending of the water level, we may be able to walk on the footpath.

After some time at this stunning religious site, we will continue further North to Lwemun to visit the legend of the footprints at Indawgyi Lake. Here we can climb a small hill to enjoy the 3 Masters and 4 Lords Nat Shrine with an unrivaled lake view.

Whilst in Nammilaung we can take some time to visit the Cane Buddha. Only built in 2009, the religious monument has fast become an important site for pilgrimage.

From here we will follow the main road north on our journey before arriving in Nyaungbin, the second largest village on the lake.

Lunch will be served here in and amongst local life.

After lunch we will stop in Lweun to refresh with a coconut and stunning lake view before returning to Lonton.

Overnight at your Lonton.

Day 10 - Meal (B/ / )

Customized trek

  • Distance – choice dependent ( 1 hr or 2 hr to 6 hr)

Wake up this morning and discover the incredible biodiversity of Indawgyi Lake by trekking around Elephant Mountain at the Southern part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The trek can be specifically tailored in accordance to your wishes. Points of interest include waterfalls, hot springs, primary forest & mountain top monasteries.

The trek will usually start around Namun, the largest village of Indawgyi lake and can last up to 6 hours. It is possible to have a stop in Namun, Shanni and Kachin to explore local life.

Day 11 - Meal (B/ / )

Back to Myitkyina

Enjoy a comfortable drive back to Myitkyina and relax at your leisure with free time at the hotel.

Day 12 - Meal (B/ / )

Myitkyina to Yangon

  • Bus departing time- 1 pm

Spend today making your own adventures, exploring Myitkyina or simply relax at your leisure.

Arrival in Yangon early evening. Tonight, enjoy your welcome dinner and culture show at Karaweik Royal Barge, a unique floating barge on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake.Enjoy a pick up by our experienced driver to transfer you back to your comfortable Yangon hotel.

Depart from Yangon

Enjoy your hotel breakfast before check in for your onward flight at Yangon International Airport, farewells and conclusion of your tour with memories to last a lifetime.
