Pack your day bag because this morning our experienced guide will pick you up at your hotel ready to explore all that Yangon has to offer. As the buzzing capital city of Myanmar, get ready to be immersed into a day of cultural exploration.
First up is the Shwedagon Pagoda. One of Myanmar’s most famous religious points of interest, its spectacular golden stupa is more than 2500 years old. After our visit to the pagoda, we will continue on to the Chaut Htat Kyi, better known as the reclining Buddha. Laying at 66 meters (217 ft) long and having feet carved with over 108 traditional symbols, the reclining Buddha is the largest in Myanmar and guarantees to impress.
After working up an appetite with our morning of sightseeing, lunch will be served in a hand selected, local restaurant where we can sample delicious native cuisine such as Burma Kachin, Shan and Kayah.
Following our delicious lunch, we will head into the center of Yangon where we can experience the Bogyoke Aung San Market. Home to the city’s largest selection of Burmese handicrafts, the market presents a splendid shopping opportunity.
Once we’re all shopped out, we will move on to downtown. The perfect spot to appreciate the city’s sprawling colonial style buildings and City Hall. We will venture over to the fascinating Sule Pagoda before a casual and enjoyable stroll through Mahabandoola Park. The Strand Hotel will be a pleasant afternoon coffee break and time to wind down.
Sunset this evening is bound to be unforgettable. We will head to one of Yangon’s best viewpoints, the Botahtaung Pagoda and Jetty. Here you can relax, take in the fresh air and be mesmerized by the stunning views as the sun sets over Yangon’s river.

Yangon to Putao

Welcome to the Kachin State! Putao is situated 1499 ft above sea level and in the far north of Myanmar. Descendant from the eastern Himalayan region, it lies deep inside a flat valley. With an abundance of forests, wildlife, sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains, it’s a good job today is free to enjoy at your leisure. This morning we will seize the day with an early morning walk to Putao market to shop as the locals do before returning to the hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast we will jump on our bicycles, the best way to explore Putao! Our destination is the local fisherman boat for a relaxing sail down the Malikha River to Fairy Island. On our way we will cycle through the vast and beautiful plains of Putao, along the pebbled road to Naungkhine. Once we board our boat, enjoy the lush tropical forests and surrounding high reefs. Relax and feel the benefits of being in some of Myanmar’s most stunning wilderness.
As we return to the jetty, we will cross a beautiful bridge as we make our way into Machanbaw town for our local, market lunch stop.
Once refueled we will continue our journey down the Malikha river bank to Namkam. Located at the bottom of the Namhti mountain range and covered in rich flora and fauna lies the large Rawan village. We will take time here to explore the culture of the people, meet locals and really delve into rural Myanmar life.
Next, we will relax and spend some quiet time at the famous religious site of Kanugmulon Pagoda. Said to be one of the 84000 pagodas built by Thiri Dhamma Thawka, the great king, the site is of significant religious importance.
On our drive back to Putao, we will take the thrilling route over the suspension bridge across Malikha River.

Putao

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel before we begin a satisfying morning walk through Putao market and on to Lonsut village. Early morning is the best time to appreciate this beautiful region and its people. We will pass through rice fields and into Namhtun creek where we can rest and enjoy a stunning view over Putao valley.
Today’s journey will then take us through beautiful bamboo groves and onto Hopaing Shan village where we will be sure to stop for an educational visit at the Buddhist Monastery. Be ready to be welcomed by the smiling, friendly faces of typical Shan villagers.
On our return walk through Namhtun Creek we will have the option to stop into Lisu Village before walking on to Paneling Hkamti Shan Village. Here we will have the unique experience of visiting Mahamuni Image and a few other local attractions.
Putaung Shan Village will be our next stop. Reached through rice fields and beautiful gardens, we will have the pleasure of visiting the small Buddhist Shrine. Enveloped by a backdrop of the Blue Mountains, the small Buddhist Shrine is truly mesmerizing.
Later we will return to Putao.

Let’s kick start today with a 13 km bike ride to Mulashidi Lishu village. We will enjoy the local markets on the way before arriving in Mulashidi, meaning “the village stands in the thatch field along Mula River”. Over 50 years since it was built by the missionary, we will have the once in a life time opportunity to walk around this unique village. Not forgetting the opportunity to marvel at the scenery from the Mulashidi suspension bridge towering over Mula River.
We will navigate our way through grapefruit, Washington naval, vlincha orange, ruby orange, king orange, king mandarin and american lime on our way to visit a must-see church before stopping for lunch.
After lunch we will enjoy an uphill trek to the Yekyawdi. We will savor the walk and relish in the spectacular views along the wildlife lined, tranquil Mula river.
Late afternoon we will return to Putao. Tonight’s dinner will be served in a selected local restaurant.Our professional driver will ensure your safe return for overnight in your Putao hotel.
Putao to Yangon
